What is a Direct Cremation?

A Direct Cremation, or No Service No Attendance cremation, are one and the same. It’s a cremation where there is no service and it is conducted in a Private Crematorium.

When a family form Sydney, Newcastle or the Central Coast engage the services of Timeless Funerals, we will transfer your loved one, arrange the appropriate Medical documentaiton in line with Legislation and then arrange for the cremation to take place. Your loved one is transported in an eco friendly transporter style coffin as per Health department guidelines and after the cremation is conducted, (coffin and all), we return the ashes you in a lovely timber Urn with a name plate attached.

The reason that people are turning more and more to this style of service is that it allows families to have a more fitting Memorial service at a time that is better suited to other family members as well as friends. Normally a Funeral service takes place within a week and this, at times, does not allow everyone to attend in a timely manner.

This way you can celebrate your loved ones life at a time and place more suited to your needs.

Following return of the ashes many people celebrate the life of the person who passed in their own special way. It is not unusual for families to host a barbeque in honour of the deceased, others have placed the box of ashes on deceased’s favourite seat at the bar in their local hotel and drank in their honour. While others don’t see the need to publically celebrate the life that was, and that is perfectly acceptable.

There are,of course, some aspects of No Service No Attendance Direct Cremations that you can upgrade. For example, you could ask for a nicer (more expensive) coffin, you may ask that the deceased is dressed or has memorabilia placed in the coffin with them. Some people even ask that we arrange for the actual cremation to occur at a specific time so friends and family can gather and light a candle and hold their own private service. However things such as upgrading coffins and dressings do attract a higher fee, and can be discussed at the time of the arrangement.

You may wonder why people decide to hold a No Service No Attendance direct cremation? Sometimes people are non religious and dont feel the need to have a religious service, others are more budget conscious and simply can’t justify the expense, and there are simply times the deceased has outlived all friends and family, whatever the reason we are here to assist you.

At the end of the day, there is nothing wrong with having No Service No Attendance funerals, you can save yourself many thousands of dollars, celebrate the life that was in your own special way, and avoid the fuss.
